FLOOD PLEASE READ! |

| Kathy Smith, who was a wonderful
lady, a true animal lover and an amazing friend lost her life Tuesday in
her home while trying to save her animals. Kathy worked with us in rescue
of cats and dogs. She always seemed to go above and beyond what anyone
could ever ask of one person. On late Monday night through Tuesday early
morning we had A LOT of rain. Kathy went out to rescue her animals and
lost her life in the process. Many of the animals lost their lives beside
of her including dogs and cats. We have been at her home, which was a
trailer, and it was destroyed completely, shifted off of it's foundation.
Her cat house was tumbled a 150 feet down next to the rivers edge. Her
pasture land became a pond. Her vehicle was crushed beneath her trailor as
it shifted and came to rest on top of it. Kathy never put herself before
she did her animals. She loved each and every one of them with all of her
heart. The animals have been relinquished to us by her family to try and
find them homes. At this time we have 6 dogs and many, many cats that are
looking for homes. We have pulled 23 cats at this time all of which are
needing homes. There is somewhere close to 30 or 40 cats that are going to
need homes of their own once they are all in our care, many of them are
scared and confused over what has happened to them in the last 48 hours.
There are many sad stories that have come from this tragic event, one of
which includes a dog that has three legs. I named him Idaho. The water
level at Kathy's home rose above 6 feet and this three legged dog was
hanging from his kennel when the animal control officer arrived there. He
had swam over top of the kennel trying to escape the rising water and had
gotten hung and was dangling. Idaho has survived the terrible storm of his
life and is looking for a family to love him. There are many different
cats that are looking for homes also. PLEASE help....we are overwhelmed
with all of these animals and Kathy would want them to have the chance
that she is no longer able to give them. We are asking for donations to
feed these animals. Some are going to need to be vetted as they were
actually floating in the water or atop of the water on wood or whatever
happened to float when we arrived to help. Please help us to help them. If
you can help out please do not hesitate to call. You can reach us at
276-692-5846 or 276-694-4043. If you do not get an answer please do leave
a message. We will be more than happy to return your call. Kathy would say
thank you from the bottom of her heart. I just know she is watching from
heaven with all of the animals that she took with her and she would be
proud of the fact that her animals are getting a second chance. Any one
who adopts these animals will be blessed by an angel who's name is now
Kathy. We are also setting up an account for donations. Please email me
for more information. You may email us at petsofva@yahoo.com or
